Cricket is played between two teams of 11 players. The objective is for the batting team to score runs while the bowling and fielding team tries to dismiss the batsmen. Runs can be scored by hitting the ball and running between the wickets or hitting boundaries (4s and 6s). Each team takes turns to bat and bowl in an innings.
Test matches are the longest format of cricket, lasting up to five days, with no restrictions on the number of overs. T20 cricket, on the other hand, is a much shorter format, where each team plays a maximum of 20 overs, making it fast-paced and more focused on aggressive play.
To play cricket, you need a cricket bat, a ball, wickets (stumps and bails), protective gear like pads, gloves, and a helmet, and optional extras like a cricket kit bag and shoes with spikes for better grip.
There are mainly two types of bowlers: fast bowlers and spin bowlers. Fast bowlers rely on speed and bounce, while spin bowlers use wrist or finger movements to spin the ball and deceive the batsman.
An over consists of six legal deliveries bowled by the same bowler. After an over is completed, another bowler takes over from the opposite end of the pitch to bowl the next over.
